I am writing in hopes of finding out more information. I should start by saying that I had encephalitis at the age of three or four. Never seemed to have any health problems until I was 21 years old. I was coming home from work and I felt really weird. I ended up having many grand mal seizures and was sedated for a day. Had EEG's, MRI's and the only thing that they could find was extra electrical activity in the left side of my brain. I'm 31 now and have been on every anti epileptic medication and even considered having a vagul nerve stimulator implanted. About nine months I went off the anti epileptic medication and my seizures stayed the same, every two to three weeks. I'm now only on Remeron, Primidone (and Klonopin when needed). My neurologist said yesterday that since the patterns of my seizures stayed the same and didn't get any worse then they are not epileptic seizures and she referred me to a neuro psychologist who specializes in non epileptic seizures. I guess my main question is can my seizures be caused by the encephalitis when I was very young? I was told that I had seizures daily when I was sick. Can this all of a sudden just start all over again?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
