Thank you so much for being here, I hope you can offer some good advise. My sister in law does not have a computer so has ask me to try to find information on Degenerative disc disorder.
She is 50 years old, 5'4" and weighs maybe 110 pounds. She was recently diagnosed, has an MRI and several xrays done. The doctor sent her to a Neurosurgeon who said surgery would not help, that pain management was all she could do and sent her to another physician to try steroid injections. She went for her first shot, and had an almost immediate reaction, numbness and pins and needles feeling in her legs and feet on her way home. Later she developed a rash and blotches with itching, she became forgetful and easily angered over the next several days, also she absolutely could not sleep or sit still. She remained in constant pain but could not sit or lay down. All common sense went away as well, doing things she shouldn't have been doing, like difficult work or heavy lifting.
She decided not to attempt another shot, afraid the reaction could be worse on the second shot and also she feels the pain is worse now than before.
Is there any other treatment or help for this disorder? She doesn't trust her doctor to advise her since this turned out so badly and wants another opinion. Please help. Thank you so much for listening.
