I had a surgery about three years ago on a cyst on my tailbone. The surgeon stated that he removed all of it. I have had it swell and disappear for several months now. Recently it has swollen up and is not going down. I read online that it could be a pilonidal cyst(absess). It sounds alot like one. Is there anything I can do at home to get rid of it? I am afraid of having surgery again. As well, I do not want to have to take 6-8 weeks off of work. PLEASE HELP!!!

Sounds exactly like that cyst. Sometimes when these are lanced the core is not gotten, therefore it may come back or it may not. My daughter had such cyst and it has never returned so far. I really don't think there is a way to get rid of it, it may fester and swell and go up and down and it can be really painful. At which point you will prob. need to be seen and have it lanced again. Maybe the surgeon didn't get all of the core. I would be seen as these cyst can leave a cavity as you well know that needs to be packed and require daily wound care. Good Luck

Cyst is commonly a bladder like or a closed sac structures and not a normal part of tissue. There is nothing you can do to get rid of it. Its not benign so there is nothing to worry. But you must consult for you to secure yourself from harm.

A cyst is an abnormal area of tissue inside of or on the body that contains fluids, semisolid tissues, gases and other materials that are not meant to be in the area.A complex cyst is a cyst that may require a biopsy as the cancer risks are higher. This type of cyst is less likely to go away on its own and can become extremely painful.
