sorry if this gets posted twicw, i had trouble posting.

Dr Joshua,
Can you tell me what the chances are of someone having MRSA and for it to go undiognosed for months, can it be a slow ongoing infection or is it always an aggresive infection, also what would the outcome be for someone to be suffering mrsa infection and not getting any treatment for months, how would someone find out that they were actually suffering from MRSA what test are there, what are the chances of passing this infection on to other people, if you haven't been diognosed with it,
can the infection get into a small cut and slowing eat away at body tissue for some months causing damage, and for that person to have no other symptons.

Sharock.

MRSA is usually acquired from hospitals that have an MRSA epidemic. MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is not a potent pathogen: It will not cause illness or symptoms in healthy individuals. However, it may complicate wound infections and cause difficult illness in patients whose immune system is compromised for any reason.

The problem with MRSA is that it is resistant to most antibiotics.

It is possible to have an MRSA colonization without knowing it. Colonization means that MRSA has become a part of the individual's bacterial flora, and even though no apparent disease can be found, the individual puts other people, especially those with compromised immune systems, at risk for a potentially dangerous hospital infection.

MRSA status can be verified with various swab tests in the lab.
