I am writing a story in which an old man was shot in the head. Now, so far, I want to use Epidoral Hematoma as a diagnosis, but I am not sure if it is correct. I have really a few questions. One, can you get Epidural Hematoma from a gun wound to the head? Two, if not, what can you get? Three, is there a diagnosis you can make that can make an old man live for about three hours TO TALK WITH HIS FAMILY and then die, such as life support or something like that? Please, I really need help!

Hi,
Sorry to hear of your loss. Here is a link on:

Surgery to remove the blood and pressure within the brain is done. But if the gunshot wound was so severe and depending on the other structures its hard to say. I'm not a Dr. but I'm sure the Dr.'s did all they could do.
