3 years ago I sprained my ankle pretty badly, to the point of being on crutches for several weeks. That ankle never had trouble before that and has always had trouble since. Just walking or standing normally through the day will make it very sore. Often bruising on the top part of the foot on the outside of the ankle will appear. Moving the joint is even more painful. It feels like there is a band running from the outside part of the lower leg, across the ankle and foot to the space between the big toe and the next that can have shooting pain if that band is touched or if I point the toes and foot out, such as needing to stand on tip toe for riding my bike. The osteopathic doctor specializing in feet and ankles told me it was inflammation in the soft tissue, but didn't tell me exactly what it was. I don't know if he knew. If anyone has any help on what it is or how I might help it to go away or lessen, that would be much appreciated. *Also, he told me that the pain and all wasn't from the sprain from 3 years ago, but that doesn't make sense to me.
